Life Membership for Meritorious Service to the Club

Following its AGM this evening, Life Membership was awared to John Donoghue for meritorious service to the club.
John has been a member of the club for many years - first as Treasurer on the Committee from 1987 to 1999 - 13 years - in the days when the job was done for the love of it!
He was involved with the irrigation installed at the course and work on the flood stop banks.
Since retiring JD has been the 'go to' man for course equipment fixing mowers and various course equipment - saving the club a great amount of expense for its repairs and maintenance.
JD is always available for firewood working bees - one could try and stop him, - but not successfully!
In addition he took over the motorized cart management doing an excellent job of keeping these in good condition and ensuring players have access to carts.
JD is a great club man - has played pennants for many years and is up for most mixed events and does not miss many Saturday competitions.  He is known to enjoy the 19th hole as well.
Congratulations John for your wonderful efforts for the Club.
