Temuka senior grade men win Hayes Cup
Sunday September 20th was a great day for the Temuka Golf Club Pennant teams in the Aorangi Assn. semis and finals. The top team competing in the Hayes Cup at Highfield won the semi final against Mayfield/Tinwald 7 1/2 to 2 1/2 in the morning round and in the final played in the afternoon they continued their good form to beat Timaru 7 to 3. The team on the day of Murray Kerse, Jake McLachlan, Mike Peattie, Ray Teahen and Kevin Teahen played consistently in the good course conditions at Highfield. Team captain Murray Kerse will enjoy pinning the pennant flag above the club bar next Saturday.
In addition the Redpath and Patterson Cup team qualified for the finals at Fairlie Golf Club next Sunday through their semi final wins at the home course. The Redpath team were tied after the 18 hole matches and got the finals spot when Hamish Scarsbrook birdied the 1st play-off hole. The Patterson team ground out a good win over Pleasant Point with most games going to the 17th or 18th. Good luck to the teams for next week and a repeat of 2007 when the club won 3 men's pennant flags.
