RNP Temuka 2000 tournament report

The RNP Homes Temuka 2000 golf tournament for men and women with a field of 84 pairs, these coming from the Aorangi area and from Christchurch and down to Taieri. The tournament was played on Oct. 27 &  28th. The weather and the course provided conditions for good scoring.

After the fourball round on Saturday the  leader board was close at the top and many pairs gave themselves a chance going into individual nett round on Sunday. In the women’s grade Temuka pairs Jenny Bolitho and Rosalie Walker,  Kath Manson  and Liz Marryatt and Diane Taylor and Heather Tarrant led with 60 nett however another 9 pairs where 64 or less giving them a good chance to come through on the Sunday.

In the Mens grade 6 pairs were on 58 nett including the defending champions Wayne Hobbs and Brent Foxcroft with 2 others pairs on 59 and a further 22 pairs on 63 or less.

In the women’s grade the Sunday nett round saw Bolitho and Walker added a 70 & 67 for a winning score of 197. Manson and Marryatt were a close 2nd on 198 with Pleasant Point pair Wendy Eaton and Michelle Bower third adding 68 & 71 to their 61 for 200. Frances Mulvey and Lyn Stratford came from a 65 4ball score to add 70 and 67 for 202 and fourth place.

In the men’s grade Carl Matthewson & Richard Marryatt added 68 and 66 to their 58 to win with 192. Steve Stewart & Graham Mehlhopt scored 60 & 73 to take second with 193. Greg Thomas and John Donaghue added 67 & 66 to their 61 for 194 and 3rd place. Kevin and Denis Teahen were 4th on 198 after both posting 69s. The top four were all Temuka players and the first visitors were Brendon McCutcheon and Norm O’Connor from Taieri who also added 69s for 199  were fifth. Lloyd and Adrian Cunningham after a mediocre 65 in the 4 Ball added 68 & 67 to come through the field for 6th on 200. Last Years winners Hobbs & Foxcroft faded to 16th with 206
